vivo V21, V21 5G, V21e official: the selfie-cam has flash and OIS stabilization
vivo drops the trio and presents the new V21 series , also composed of V21 5G and V21e : we talked about the fact that the three smartphones would arrive soon, not surprisingly, just over a week ago , anticipating many of the key features. Including the most curious one, which distinguishes these products from the rest of the mid-range panorama, namely the presence of a 44 MP selfie-cam with LED flash , an element that is common to all three models unlike the other gem, that is the stabilization OIS and EIS absent instead on v21e .
The family is also very close when it comes to design : the lines and dimensions are practically the same, but the finishes on the back change, all in any case rather neat and eye-catching. Vivo V21 and V21 5G have a more modern appearance, with three color alternatives — Sunset Dazzle, Dusk Blue and Arctic White — different from each other but still opaque; vivo V21e instead offers two options: Diamond Flare, in shades of violet and with an interesting geometric pattern, and Roman Black which is dark and more serious with a striped pattern, almost a pinstripe.
If on the back we can talk about a current and successful aesthetic, the front instead is a bit disappointing: the “chin” is visibly more pronounced than the other frames, and the drop notch greatly penalizes the overall impact, considering that it is a a solution that even the mid-range now reject, and has therefore remained the prerogative of cheaper devices.
A pity, also because it compromises a strong point of the phones, that is the quality selfie cam and with the particularity of an associated LED flash: on the other hand, it has its own technical justification since it serves to mask the clutter. of optical stabilization , the real flagship of the v21 family.
The three smartphones also have in common the rear photographic equipment (here too there is the OIS stabilization), made up of three sensors enclosed in an elegant rectangular element typical of the vivo design: the main one is 64 MP , the ultrawide one is 8 MP. and finally there is the 2MP macro .
The display is a 6.44 inch AMOLED E3 FULL HD + panel with 20: 9 aspect ratio, maximum brightness of 500 nits (430 on V21e), 90Hz refresh rate , 180Hz touch sample rate and HDR10 + support on V21 and V21 5G, while only HDR10 on V21e. The fingerprint sensor for biometric identification is integrated just below the screen.
The biggest difference between the models, however, is in the data sheet, and in particular in the processor: if V21 and V21 5G are equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 U SoC (7nm production process) and the Mail-G57 MC3 GPU, in fact , on V21e we find Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G (8nm production process) and the Adreno 618 GPU.
As for the memories, the equipment is identical for all with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage (and there is also the Extended RAM technology that thanks to a swap can “simulate” 3 GB of additional RAM to make the even more responsive device). The battery is also the same, with a capacity of 4,000 mAh and 33W FlashCarge charging .
At the moment only Vivo V21 and V21e are on the launch pad : we know that they will arrive in Malaysia from May 5, respectively, for the equivalent of approximately 323 and 242 euros (1,600 and 1,200 MYR). We have no information, therefore, about the availability of V21 5G or on the price, as well as on the timing of a possible arrival in other markets, soon: but we will keep you updated.
